Big news! While the Kickstarter for our first book is off to a strong start, something bigger happened today.
We were notified by the Kickstarter staff that Poison Ivy Gulch Saddles Up has earned the Kickstarter honor of “Project We Love”!!
This is an incredible honor that is not easy to earn!
Isn’t that all the more reason to go back our first book?
Earlier today, the Kickstarter staff finally approved the project Poison Ivy Gulch Saddles Up. The pre-launch page is now up and we have a special initiative going on.
The project is set to launch on Wednesday morning June 8! If we can get at least 25 people following the pre-launch page by 6/8, all backers will get an extra reward.
I have some good news and I have some bad news; it is regarding the Kickstarter for our first book Poison Ivy Gulch Saddles Up.
First, the bad news…and believe me, this was a tough decision to make. The Kickstarter has to be delayed until Wednesday June 8; it will run for thirty days until late night on Friday July 8. This decision is something beyond our control. The Kickstarter was submitted for review & approval late night on Saturday May 21, 2022. As of this writing on May 30, 2022, it is still awaiting approval. Kickstarter staff was notified and they currently have a backlog of submissions. If all goes well, the project should be approved before this week ends.
Now for the good news: this gives more time to prepare for the Kickstarter, work out the promotion plan and to ready the rewards. There will be milestone bonuses as well as a returning backer bonus and an extra reward to all backers if we can hit a certain number of followers on the pre-launch page.
We launch on Wednesday morning June 8, 2022! Get ready!
The day of the big announcement is finally here!
After some thinking, calculations and consideration, I’d like to officially announce that the first book collection of Poison Ivy Gulch – Poison Ivy Gulch Saddles Up – is going ahead as planned! This first book will be a paperback of about 8.5 by 5.5 inches (digest size) in landscape format. More details are still being hammered out such as the exact page count; we’re leaning towards 104 pages total.
The exact content is still being decided too. While we will be collecting the early strips from 2020 and some of 2021, there is the possibility that this book will also contain 6-12 additional comic strips NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE as a print bonus!
The book will be published by Different Mousetrap Press of North Dakota complete with barcode, ISBN and Library of Congress Control Number. Deals are already being negotiated with a handful of retailers to stock the book.
So how will this book get printed? It will be crowdfunded via the site Kickstarter! The Kickstarter to fund Poison Ivy Gulch Saddles Up will launch on the morning of Wednesday June 1, 2022 and will end late night on Friday July 1, 2022. The print run will be about 1,000 copies.
There will be an active countdown here and on the Poison Ivy Gulch Twitter account so make sure you mark your calendars and ready your wallets!

This book will be paperback and will collect several of the early comic strips. So how will this book become a reality?
Why, we’ll use Kickstarter! The first book will be crowdfunded with the planned Kickstarter launching on June 1, 2022! Coincidentally, that’s also when this strip first launch.
