The Writer’s Shack July 2020

Welcome back, cowpokes, to this month’s edition of the Writer’s Shack.

It’s been one whole month since Poison Ivy Gulch officially launched.  We have had a phenomenal first month!  We finished in the top 500 of the humor category over on Top Webcomics.  That is very good for a newly launched webcomic.

However, we don’t plan to rest on our laurels.  There’s a lot more in store for Poison Ivy Gulch.

Like what, you may ask?  Well, I’ll explain.

At the time of this writing, plans are already underway for the first Poison Ivy Gulch book.  On top of that, the schedule might change; as we stand, updates are twice a week.  If all goes well, that schedule might change to three times a week.  This could happen as early as January 2021.  To this end, more gags are being written down in notebooks as it is important to have lots of material.  I am also developing more characters to add to the cast, but you’ll learn about them soon enough.

Make sure you vote for us over on Top Webcomics and if you like my comics, then buy me a Ko-Fi.

Your fan mail is appreciated.  You can send it to poisonivygulch(at)aol(dot)com.  Of course, if you prefer old-fashioned snail mail, please write to:

Death and dying was a big part of life out in the old West. That’s where Rigg R. Mortis comes in; he’s the undertaker in Poison Ivy Gulch. When someone dies or is about to die, he shows up to help with final arrangements. He has a variety of burial options and coffins to fit all budgets.

Rigg is very good friends with the hangman Herman the German as their business involves death. They can be seen chatting with either other and having a drink at the saloon.

Herman the German is the local hangman of Poiosn Ivy Gulch. He executes people through hanging.

He’s originally from Germany but emigrated to the USA and after living in Milwaukee, found his way to Poison Ivy Gulch.

FACT: Herman was based on a real person – George Maledon, the “Prince of Hangmen”!

Marshal Art

The West has always had lawmen as stock characters such as sheriffs, local marshals and federal marshals. Here, we have a local marshal and that fellow is Marshal Art. He’s the law in Poison Ivy Gulch.

He’s also the only sane man compared to the more wacky characters. When seen, Marshal Art usually plays the straight man, especially when he’s with Mayor Sidewinder.
